The Avengers – Infinity Wars
Dear Marvel Team,
Dear @AnthonyRusso @JoeRusso @KevinFeige
Tonight, like Millions of other fans, I have gone to watch Infinity Wars on IMAX 3D and from the first opening sequence to the bitter end of the movie, I was glued onto the chair. What a marvel this film is. I applaud the writers, creators and every single person including the cast to have given us a truly amazing movie. I will not give away spoilers to the readers and therefore will not go into detail, but I would like to appeal to you, that you make this the last Marvel Movie in this franchise.
Wait…did I say the “last”? Yes, I meant it. It was so good, so amazing and even though you managed to kill off almost half of the 76 Marvel characters in this movie, it would be the perfect ending to the franchise. Of course, Hollywood is money driven and Infinity Wars might tip Avatar (1), Titanic (2) and Star Wars The Force Awakens (3) of the highest grossing movie list and therefore you will not stop with it, but c’mon, can’t you see the glorious ending it would be? I am not a comic book reader, but I do know that in the comics Thanos already “sniped” the fingers and of course many lines by Dr. Strange are hinting on what is to come, after all he saw only one victory out of 14’000’650.
This move would be like “In your ball sack for a chin” (by Star Lord’s comeback to Thanos), but I could totally live with this kind of ending for the Avengers, Iron Man, the Captain and Guardians. Why not? Think about it, even the post credit sequence was spot on and perfect. It would be Hollywood’s, Disney’s and Marvel’s biggest coup to come out now and say: “Deadpool 2, Ant-Man and The Wasp and Venom” are stand-alone films anyway. Ant-Man plays before Infinity Wars anyway, Deadpool is somewhat stand-alone and Venom’s story could be without attachment too. And that “Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse, Captain Marvel***, Avengers 4, Spider-Man Homecoming 2, Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Black Panther 2, Dr. Strange 2” are not being made to make room for the Logan Spinoff, X-Men revival, Gambit, Black Widow, Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants and therefore Infinity Wars was the ending. This all sounds crazy and being a movie producer myself, of course it cannot be done. *** Speaking of Captain Marvel, she will probably be the link between Infinity Wars and Avengers 4. Therefore, I cannot wait to see how you fix the dire ending of Infinity Wars in Captain Marvel.
This was the first Marvel movie, perhaps the first movie ever, where 99% of the audience sat quietly through the whole end credit and post credit sequence and there was no laughter or talking. It was just eerily quit in the theater. It was the coolest atmosphere ever. Speaking of great atmosphere. Towards the end when you know “who” snapped his finger… the scenes after was quiet well done by not working with a music score and just letting “it happen”, it was plainly genius. The quietness in these scenes and all the scenes that followed, just the amazing cast acting their part and giving each scene this traumatic pulse, was truly a masterpiece. It reminded me of some epic war scenes like Dunkirk, Saving Private Ryan or Hacksaw Ridge and this was unexpected in a fast track comic book movie appealing to mostly young viewers. I have truly witnessed grown man shed a few tears with some of their favorite characters.
Before everybody is going to bombard me about my outlandish wish to put an end to this Marvel Universe and want to banish me to oblivion…. Think of the fact that many viewers are getting somewhat tired of the complexity this Universe presents. There is almost some sort of peer pressure to watch every single Marvel movie otherwise one might miss an important ingredient. If you haven’t seen The Black Panther, how would you understand why Wakanda posses this amazing technology? I completely understand why Disney is structuring his Universe and tying all comic books together. But for me the stand-alone spin-off movies like Disney is doing with Star Wars (Rogue One, Han Solo) works better is much more appealing than building a never-ending story. (Speaking of it, Constantin Film should dig up The Never-ending Story and bring it back).
I am not sure if all viewers realized that every single line had a meaning for this movie or the next to come, but also the writers must be complimented on balancing the jokes with the wittiness language of the characters and giving each character believable emotions.
Marvel Team, you did it. Infinity Wars is the best Marvel movie yet.
